Length Avg. Weight Choke 12 30" 7. Viper G2 Sporting. Product Manual. Product Manual Spec Sheet. Weight Choke Posted: Sat Dec 31, pm. I've got several nicer doubles Citoris, AH Foxes, Guerinis, and the likeso looking for something to just go out and kick around. In all likelihood, probably - rds per year. Mostly will be fed reloads Winchester AA hulls, 1oz lead at about fpswith rounds of Fiocchi Golden Pheasants or equivalent making up the remainder.
My dad was a furniture maker by trade, so I freely admit that the nicer grained wood does have a draw for me. Posted: Sun Jan 01, am.
Since I own one in 12ga, I'll vote for the SA I've had it a couple of years and there has only been about rounds through it. But it has been trouble free. It's light but shoots softly. I have read lots of reports about guys being able to shoot 1oz fps through their guns right out of the box.
But mine wouldn't run them until I had a few hundred faster rounds down the tube. So I don't think mine would ever run the slower 1oz loads you're talking about running.
I like the dual pistons. I use the light for target loads and heavy for everything else. And since I give the gun a once-over before heading out, I just make sure it has the correct piston for what ever load I'll be shooting that day.
I have zero experience with the Vipers. But I don't recall reading anything bad about them. I have read they tend to have pretty nice wood on them, as you mentioned. Since you'll be able to fondle both of them at the same time, you'll know which one feels better to you. If they feel the same, you'll just have to scratch your chin and decide on one.
Good luck with your choice. Posted: Mon Jan 02, am. I can't speak for the the SA but I have a Viper G2 SR Sport with over rds thru it and had my first failure to feed with it this week only because I hadn't cleaned it in over rds just to see how far it would go.
Did a good cleaning and put another rds thru it with no problems. It is one of my favorite shotguns out of the over 20 that I have. Like it so much I'm going to order another G2 in 28 gauge. I can give you a vote for the Weatherby, which is not a vote against the Tristar. Posted: Wed Jan 11, pm. Shouldered them all, and liked them all.
Just couldn't get past the awesome furniture on the Viper G2 Sporting, and it followed me home. Should have it cleaned up and out to the range in a couple of days for break-in and patterning. Posted: Thu Jan 12, am.Posted: Mon Jan 18, pm. When I was at the range yesterday I notice a guy at the cleaning table cleaning his gun and I ask him "how he liked his SA 20?
It was broken down and all the parts appear to be exactly the same as my SA The only thing I could see was different was the Logo on the side of receiver and that it had sling swivel studs. Are both guns made by the same company and are they the same? Posted: Sun Jan 24, am. Posted: Wed Jan 27, am. Thank you for your reply. I wonder if Tristar has any parts or accessories available? Mossberg doesnt offer these barrels for sale but there is a way to get them. Did the person you were told to email have the initials J. Yes J. The turkey barrel is the one I want.

The bolt is attached to that part by the operating handle. When the assembly moves forward, the locking block is elevated into engagement with a cut in the barrel extension.
When the Viper is fired, gas exiting the barrel through two ports forces the piston, slide and bolt assembly rearward, lowering the locking block. This lets the assembly recoil, ejecting the empty on the reverse stroke and picking up a fresh shell on the return. I was a bit less successful showing a tendency to shoot over the top with it, the result of sloppy gun handling. The only nagging problem with the Viper G2 was with the magazine tube cap; it tended to loosen during firing and had to be retightened regularly.
Its surface area is much less than larger bores so it stays hot, too. Once a shooter becomes familiar with its nuances, however, it proves very capable.
